Brent Civic Centre, London. Brent Civic Centre is officially recognised as the greenest public building in the UK, through its BREEAM ‘Outstanding’ accreditation. This prestigious project called for some high-quality curved formwork for the central core lift shafts and staircase walls that incorporated a series of features running horizontally and vertically, and that also had to correspond with features in the columns and floor slabs. The project was further complicated by some non-standard storey heights. Special Formwork worked in close collaboration with both contractors and architects to produce the most efficient and practical method of forming the various structural elements. Mitchelson’s were the concrete frame subcontractors. Skanska was the main contractors
Construction of featured core walls and columns.
