Lyme Regis Sea Defences

The historic town of Lyme Regis is situated on Lyme Bay in West Dorset on the south coast of the UK , and is known both for its historic seafront and as a gateway to the Dorset and East Devon World Heritage Site known locally as the Jurassic Coast. The town is located on one of the most unstable and actively eroding stretches of coastline in the UK and the highly active nature of the coastline can readily be seen along the coast either side of Lyme Regis.

The Lyme Regis Environmental Improvements project is one of most complex coastal projects being undertaken in the UK. The works are designed to protect the town by stabilising landslides without negatively impacting on the important geological and environmental characteristics of the area.

The wave return formwork was designed and manufactured by Special Formwork and incorporated transitions to enable the formwork to follow the contours of the land.

The main contractor was Dean & Dyball.
